IVY LEE

Reeling of Disbelief

23 April – 1 June 2024

In escalation, at strange elevations, the work of Ivy Lee deals with the mysterious nature of systems and the systems we
transpose onto mystery.

The solo exhibition Reeling of Disbelief at Gallery Gudmundsdottir unearths from the air the unarticulated expressions of our planet, which in human language are reduced to ‘weather’. Investigating and unraveling the philosophical and physical tools conceived by our species to make-human such elemental forces, it is an unweaving of the narrative tapestries that govern how we perceive reality.

Through the eye of this needle, Reeling of Disbelief spins upon a spindle new threads for being with the world. It looks beyond the anthropocentric instruments of measure toward the timeless primordial vibrations which, moving living and non-living matter alike, give voice even to the mouthless.

For her second presentation at the gallery, Ivy Lee brings together a suite of works which, across multiple mediums, propose novel patterns for restitching ourselves back into the frayed fabric of the Earth.
